Why We're Working Together
Our oceans are essential to life on Earth, but they’re under growing threat. From warming waters and pollution to increasing risks for marine wildlife, urgent action is needed to protect the places and species we love.
At the heart of Novotel is a commitment to Longevity — a belief that everyday actions can help create a healthier future for people and planet. Through its partnership with WWF-Australia, Novotel is extending this commitment to the ocean, recognising that thriving marine ecosystems are essential to sustaining life, wellbeing and future generations. The collaboration supports critical conservation work to protect and restore our oceans and marine wildlife in the Southern Hemisphere.
Together, Novotel and WWF-Australia are taking action to safeguard the oceans that care for us. Novotel’s support contributes directly to WWF-Australia’s goal of protecting 100 million hectares of ocean, helping to conserve vital habitats, feeding grounds, breeding areas and migration pathways for marine life. This work is urgent. Ship traffic, underwater noise, climate change and pollution are making ocean journeys increasingly dangerous for whales and other marine life. Through this partnership, we’re working to reduce risks to whales and other marine wildlife by creating safer ocean passages and advocating for stronger ocean protection. Novotel is working with WWF-Australia to support collaborative conservation efforts across the region, including:
- Contributing to the protection of 100 million hectares (an area more than twelve times the size of Tasmania!) of ocean in the Southern Hemisphere, in support of protecting 30% of Australia’s oceans in marine sanctuaries by 2030.
- Supporting research and advocacy to protect whale migration safe passages and other high‑value marine areas.
- Raising awareness of the importance of healthy oceans and the role they play in sustaining life on Earth.
- Educating audiences and guests about the urgent need for ocean protection, today and for generations to come.
